A MISSION TO UNLEASH COMPASSION
|Unleashing Compassion – Wheelchair Accessible Van for Latinas & More! on Crowdrise|
A NEW OPPORTUNITY TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS
We currently have a new opportunity to unleash compassion. David and Aracely Latina (pictured to the right) first visited Canyon last spring and attended regularly until David’s sudden injury. In September 2016, in a fluke accident, David fell at home and broke his neck causing almost total paralysis. In the time since, he has made dramatic improvements (Praise God!), but is still wheelchair-bound and needs continual care. His wife, Aracely, is the sole provider of that care. Their marriage is a beautiful testament to the vow of loving “in sickness and in health” and if you spend just a few minutes with them, you will find them encouraging you. David and Aracely love Canyon and are always asking how they can pray for us! We invite you to meet David and Aracely and learn more about their story by watching this video interview.
The Latinas just recently acquired a van so they can transport David, however, the van needs to be retrofitted to accommodate his wheelchair. Our elders have put forth a challenge – let’s raise the $10,000 needed to accomplish this goal and open up David’s world beyond the walls of his home – including being able to join us for worship! Any funds raised above that goal will go towards their medical expenses and further benevolence needs in our community.
